


Calgary Taxes and Benefits
Our tax filing services are free for eligible Calgarians living on a low to moderate income. We provide personal simple tax filing services only.
Income Guidelines
To access our free tax filing services, eligibility is determined based on the requirements outlined in the chart below.
Family size includes all adults and dependent children in your household.
We can assist with filing your taxes under certain conditions:
- You are not in pre-bankruptcy or active bankruptcy proceedings for the tax year being filed
- You are not filing on behalf of a deceased individual
- You did not live in Quebec at any point during the tax year being filed
- You lived in Canada (outside Quebec) on December 31, 2025
- You earned less than $1,000 in interest income
- You do not own foreign property valued over $100,000
- If you are a newcomer to Canada and have never filed taxes before, we recommend connecting with organizations such as CIWA, Centre for Newcomers, or The Immigrant Education Society.
- Self-employment, including gig work, may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

How to file with Rise Calgary
Visit our office
Visit during drop-in hours to complete the forms. No appointment is necessary during drop-in hours. Please arrive 30 minutes before closing time.
- If you are a caseworker assisting a client who cannot visit in-person, please contact Chantel to request tax forms.
- View our office hours
Bring Photo ID & SIN
Please bring one piece of government-issued photo ID (driver’s licence preferred), along with your Social Insurance Number (SIN).
Complete Your Forms
Tax forms are available during drop-in hours. You may complete them on-site with support from an Advocate or take them home to complete.
- Once completed, forms can be dropped off at any of our office locations.
- If you are unable to visit one of our locations, please email info@risecalgary.ca (Attention: Chantel) with your completed documents.
Next Steps
- Once all documents are received, your file will be added to our processing queue. We’ll contact you when it has been assigned to a volunteer tax preparer.
- If any issues arise while your return is being prepared, we’ll contact you by phone. No additional appointment is required.
- Once your return is complete, we’ll notify you by phone. Your tax summary will be emailed to you if consent has been provided; otherwise, it will be shared by phone or arranged for pickup.
- Our tax clinic is volunteer-operated, and processing times may vary. Please refer to the notice at the top of this page for current wait times.
