Siksika Taxes and Benefits

Our tax filing services are offered at no cost to Siksika Nation members with low to moderate income through the Talking Taxes program. In addition to tax filing, Talking Taxes also provides financial coaching, financial literacy and education, and support with navigating key government programs and benefits, including the Disability Tax Credit and Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs).

We are unable to prepare returns if you:

  • Are filing a Pre/Post Bankruptcy Return
  • Are filing a Deceased Return
  • Are Self-Employed
  • Have employment expenses
  • Have income sources that include Capital Gains, Farming Income, Commission Income, Investment Income over $1,000, Professional/Business Income, Rental Income
  • Have other complex returns

How to file with Rise Calgary Talking Taxes

  1. Visit our office

    Visit our office during Siksika Nation Office drop-in hours to fill out the forms. No appointment is necessary during drop-in hours. Please come 30 minutes before closing time.​​

  2. Bring Photo ID

    Bring a copy of Photo ID.

  3. Next Steps

    • Should the tax volunteer encounter any issues while processing your taxes, you will be notified by phone.
    • Once your tax return has been completed by a volunteer, you will receive a phone call to confirm completion and arrange a time for pickup. If you provided consent during intake, your tax summary will be sent to you by email. Otherwise, it will be available for pickup.
