Earn and Learn
Are you ready to save money and take control of your finances? Rise Calgary, in partnership with Momentum, invites you to join our exciting matched savings program, Earn and Learn.
How It Works
Please review the steps below before getting started.
Step 1: Sign Up For the Program
You can submit an application to join the Earn and Learn program. After you apply, a staff member will contact you before the group begins to complete an intake and confirm eligibility.
Step 2: Attend Earn and Learn Sessions
Participants attend two group learning sessions per month (typically Wednesdays at 6:00 PM for 2 hours). These sessions focus on practical financial topics and support participants during the program.
Step 3: You Save $20-$50 Per Month
Each month, you deposit between $20 and $50 into your own personal savings account. You continue saving for the full program period.
By the end of the program, you will have saved:
- Minimum: $120
- Maximum: $300
Step 4: Your Savings Are Matched 3:1 and Grow
At the end of the program, Rise Calgary matches your savings at a 3:1 rate. For every $1 you save, $3 is added.
- If you save $120, you receive $360 in matching funds
- If you save $300, you receive $900 in matching funds
Your total savings plus match will be:
- Minimum total: $480
- Maximum total: $1,200
Step 5: You Purchase an Asset
Funds can be used toward an asset that supports your financial stability or quality of life.
Examples of eligible assets include:
- Emergency savings (up to $500)
- Laptop or computer
- Housing damage deposit
- Education or training costs
- Employment tools and supports
See the link here for the full list of eligible assets.
